Why home birth? is it safe?

Home birth is not a trend.

It’s been the norm for thousands of years. Only in the last 100 years has birth moved into the hospitals with the invention of continuous electronic fetal monitoring (which, BTW, does NOT improve birth outcomes.)

For low risk women, home birth can be just as safe (or even safer) than a hospital birth. 🤯

Here’s what you need to know about the safety of home birth:

📖The Lancet published a study analyzing over 500,000 births among planned home births and low risk women delivering in hospitals. (Both groups were low risk):

Women planning to birth at home had:
⬇️Reduced risk of cesarean section
⬇️Reduced risk of Forceps delivery
⬇️Reduced epidural rate
⬇️Reduced rates of severe tearing
⬇️Reduced risk of Infection
⬇️Reduced rate of hemorrhage
And…
👉No increased risk to baby.

Here’s the truth:
There will always be risk in birth.
There are risks to birthing at home.
There are risks to birthing at the hospital.
➡️ Choose your risk.

Home birth is not for everyone - just like hospital birth is not for everyone.

Consider all your options and where you feel most safe bringing your baby into the world, because that is where your body will labor best.
